We use a small group approach, with women meeting in groups of 10-12 women, once every three weeks. Small groups are more intimate and allow for greater and deeper sharing among
the women. Meetings last no more than two hours and are held at the homes of group members to encourage true sisterhood. Meetings open and close with shared prayer, encourage shared experiences, include Bible readings and other studies to help foster spiritual growth, friendships and friends who pray for you and your struggles. We don’t have to go at this alone!!
Our small groups meet on various days, with each group determining the time and day that works best for them. We attempt to group people in the same local geographic area. That’s the key – a small group better manages to the needs to the team members and can meet where and when it’s most convenient for all. On a quarterly basis, we try to have an activity open to the entire ministry, to help build and foster a growing sense of community among like-minded women who are trying to grow deep the roots of Christian sisterhood. Activities may include spiritual retreats, evenings of reflection, Mother’s Day picnic, speakers, and acts of charity for women to do together. We will continue to evolve to meet the needs of the women in the ministry.
The strength of the ministry comes from meeting in small groups on a regular basis and sticking to this commitment. We can’t do it alone and aren’t expected to…together we can strengthen our faith and Christian community.
