After the blessing and dismissal the CR gets the processional cross from its stand and the candlebearers wait at the bench. As the CR passes the bench, the candlebearers fall in line, single-file behind the CR.
The CR stops between the first and second pew and the candlebearers stand side-by-side, in line with the first pew and facing the altar. The priest and deacon will stand at the base of the sanctuary.
All ministers show reverence to the altar. As the priest and deacon bow, the altar servers nod their heads forward. The servers turn to the right in unison.
After the reverence all ministers process out in the same order as the entrance procession and at a slow and at a moderate pace (the same pace as the entrance procession).
The CR should be holding the cross so that it faces away from the altar and above the height of the average parishioner.
The CR proceeds to the sacristy to place the crucifix in its stand. He/she will return to the church to assist the candlebearers and to extinguish the candles.
The candlebearers return to the credence and servers tables via the west aisle (on the wall with the Our Lady of Guadalupe stained glass window.)
The candlebearers will take the empty ciboria and the trays of cups back to the sacristy.
Often the congregation is still singing the recessional song. It is best to wait until they are finished to take vessels back to the sacristy.
