Communion for the Sick and Homebound

Our Mission is to bring Jesus Christ to our sick and impaired brothers and sisters who are in good standing with the Church and are unable to attend Mass at St Ann. Our team of lay ministers brings Holy Communion to our parishioners in their homes, memory care centers, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers.

Each week, our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion call the parishioners to coordinate the time and place of the service. When they arrive at the home or facility, they wear a cloth or disposable mask and a St. Ann Safe Environment ID Badge with their picture. The minister will set-up an altar which includes a linen, crucifix, holy water, pyx, and electric candle and conduct a Communion Service which includes the:

  • Penitential Rite

  • Sunday Bible Readings

  • Reflection on the Readings

  • Communion Rite

  • Concluding Rite

If the parishioner is ill, has trouble swallowing, or is not able to participate, the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion can give them a portion of the Host or a Spiritual Communion. In addition, they have the option of conducting an Abbreviated Communion Service.

If you wish to receive Holy Communion, please send an email to cshmin@stannparish.org or call and leave a message at 972-304-8545, extension 6005.

Note: If the parishioner requires a priest to administer the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) or the Anointing of the Sick (Extreme Unction), please call the parish office at 972-393-5544 to schedule a visit.  The parish office is open from 8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday.

When the office is closed, the answering system will prompt you to press “1” for English and “2” for Spanish.  If there is an emergency which requires the immediate attention of a priest, the system will prompt you to press “1” a second time.
